Following A Low Carb Diet

Most individuals that are interested in going on a diet think of lowering the amount of food that they normally eat. These individuals also think about eliminating some of the calories within their diet, and in cases that are more extreme, they think about eliminating calories altogether. However, there are many individuals that are questioning whether or not this is the right thing to do. The truth of the matter is it isn't the appropriate thing to do. Instead, what you should do is have fewer calories that come from sources of simple carbs, such as sugar and processed flour, and consume more vegetables, fruits, protein, and whole grains. Within this article, we are going to discuss following a low carb diet.

When you are following a low carb diet, you should eat more often, but make sure that you are consuming smaller portions of food spread throughout the course of the day. You shouldn't be rigid about three complete meals. Instead you should consume five or six healthy snacks. Eating healthy snacks will get the metabolism within your body working, whereas when your body is being starved of food, the body will enter into a protective mode and it will attempt to preserve your fat stores within the body, in order to provide you with the energy you need, whenever you need it.

In all actuality, this is considered to be the basis of survival for humans. At anytime that your body is being starved of food, instead of the fat breaking down, the muscle breaks down and as a result, you end up eliminating your lean mass which is active metabolically. In turn, this results in your body requiring higher amounts of energy in efforts of supporting the muscle. As you may already know, fat doesn't need any energy to support it, and whenever the body thinks that it is in starvation mode, it is going to save the fat within your body right up till the end because it happens to be concerned with staying alive and it enjoys equipping itself for the worse case scenario.

As an individual interested in following a low carb diet, it is very important that you are aware of how to ensure that your body does enter into starvation mode. Well, first off, you can make sure that you eat smaller meals more often. Many individuals may question how this is going to help them, well on a practical level; you aren't going to get hungry because you are eating all of the time. Even more importantly, your metabolic rate is going to increase because you will be digesting food a lot more often. Food being digested within your body is considered to be an activity also, just like any other type of physical activity.

Since digesting food is considered to be an activity, it uses calories, and that is precisely what you want to happen. So in the event that you are considering following a low carb diet, you should go ahead and plan out those four to five small meals each day. These small meals should consist of small portions of fruits and vegetables, and just a little meat. If you live a busy, hectic lifestyle you may plan your meals out a week in advance and the cook all of your meals for the whole entire week at one time. Chicken without the skin is a wonderful protein source.

Egg white is also an excellent protein source. As part of your low carb diet, you should also drink plenty of water in-between your meals because it flushes out all of the toxins. Water also keeps your body feeling energetic and clean. In order to maintain an elevated metabolic rate, you may also want to attempt to eat every three hours. Even though it may sound crazy, it's honestly true; you don't necessarily have to cut back on your food intake while you are following a low carb diet. All you have to do is go low-carb and eat a little more because you are going to be eating more meals that are smaller each day instead of what you normally would be consuming.
